Returns a specified number of characters from the left side of text in another cell
The LEFT function returns a number of characters from the left side of text in a cell. Using LEFT is fairly straightforward and is particularly useful when you paste or import data that has text strings for which you only want to see/use a portion of it.

The arguments for the LEFT function are:
||The text string that contains the characters you want to extract.
||Specifies the number of characters you want LEFT to extract.
must be greater than or equal to zero.
is greater than the length of text, LEFT
returns all of text.
is omitted, it is assumed to be 1.
LEFT is a simple but useful function to return only certain length of the left portion of text in any cell.
